Monica joined HLA as a pro bono paralegal with the Access to Care and Coverage Practice in July 2023. Monica is an independent mental health advocate focusing on financial barriers to accessing mental health care. Activities include legislative advocacy, parity enforcement, and creative approaches to expanding payment models and commercial insurance coverage.

Monica is on the Steering Committee for CORE Mental Health, a non-profit focused on racial equity and mental health. She is also a consultant with Massachusetts Association for Mental Health and a co-chair of the Massachusetts Mental Health Coalition. Passionate about social justice, Monica is a Racial Social Justice Ambassador for the City of Somerville and a volunteer with the Wellesley Racial Justice Initiative. Monica worked in the technology sector for over twenty years, now routinely mentoring and supporting entrepreneurs building mental health apps.
